Shane Norrie Paintings
EXPLORATIONS SERIES
Norrie's latest series marks a natural evolution in his practice, shifting from acrylic into oil while carrying forward the intuitive, gestural language that defines his work. Across these pieces, he builds imagined landscapes—abstracted forms that hint at rocks, rivers, and weathered outcrops without settling into literal depiction.
There’s a sense of place woven throughout: subtle references to some of his favourite places to visit: the large, rounded boulders of the Horcones River in Mexico and the rugged cliffs of Eastern Canada emerge through layered colour, softened edges, and expressive linework. The palette feels grounded yet optimistic, offering a quiet nod to spring—renewal, movement, and light returning.
Together, the series reads as both a reflection and a departure—rooted in past approaches, yet opening into something fresh and exploratory.
THE AUTUMN SERIES
Shane Norrie's Autumn Series features textured paintings paired with ceramics, both finished in deep, earthy tones—olive greens, burnt umbers, navy blues, toasted pinks, warm greys and rich rusty hues. The works evoke the nostalgic feeling of home during the autumn season through their natural woodland palette and organic textures. Together, these canvases and wheel-thrown ceramics create a wonderful collection that brings seasonal warmth to any space.
THE COASTAL CURRENTS SERIES
"Coastal Currents" captures the essence of summer's gentle rhythms - the warmth of playful breezes, the vastness of skies adrift with billowing clouds. Richly textured paintings are paired with his latest series of ceramics featuring dreamy dusty blues and soft, muted ochres.
