Shane Norrie Pottery
Shane’s creative vision is guided by natural elements such as lichen, rocks, and the ephemeral beauty of ice and crusted snow. When throwing on the potter’s wheel, he carefully manipulates rims and alters forms , leaving the imprint of random dents and pokes – a testament to the handmade.
Shane began working with clay at the age of sixteen in his hometown of Ingersoll, Ontario. Through experimentation with various methods of pottery making and painting, he continues to refine his distinct organic style. Shane Norrie pottery has a dedicated base of collectors, patrons and gallery representation, including top galleries throughout the country such as the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery and the Gardiner Museum of Ceramic Art. His work is included in the permanent collection of the Sanbao Ceramic Art Institute in Jingdezhen, China as well as the collection of the Canadian Embassy in Nagoya, Japan.
